Internal parasites, such as roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and tapeworms live primarily in the stomach and small intestines. Fecal exams should be checked at least once a year for all dogs and cats in order to protect your pet. Dogs and cats that are outside or hunt are at higher risk of internal parasite infection and require more frequent fecals and/or deworming. It is possible for people, especially children, to get roundworms and hookworms from infected pets.
