Nathan Dorshorst, DVM

Dr. Dorshorst grew up on a 50 cow registered Holstein dairy farm in central Wisconsin where he spent summers showing dairy cattle and riding on calls with his father, also a large animal veterinarian.  He attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison receiving his Bachelors of Science in Dairy Science (2002) and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (2006).

Dr. Dorshorst specializes in bovine advanced reproductive technology including reproductive ultrasound and fetal gender determination, embryo transfer (E.T.), in vitro fertilization and cloning.  He also enjoys herd health and general practice work when his schedule allows.  His work with embryo transfer began while still in veterinary school when he would travel to the home farm to learn from his older brother Matt, also an E.T. veterinarian.
He is a member of the American Embryo Transfer Association (AETA) and the International Embryo Transfer Society.  He is also an AETA certified practitioner and maintains a USDA certified collection facility for export of both bovine and equine embryos to the European Union.   His other professional memberships include the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Bovine Practitioners.

He lives with his wife Melissa and their three boys, Braedon, Owen, and Everett.  He enjoys gardening, hiking, showing his registered Holsteins and spending time with his family.

Dr. Dorshorst joined the LVH team as a doctor in 2006.
